I am an Industrial Designer & Carpenter in Ottawa, ON.
Hi, I'm Liana! My career has taken a slightly unconventional path. I studied Industrial Design because I love solving problems through thoughtful, user-centered design, but somewhere along the way I discovered I enjoy building things just as much as designing them.
Since graduating from Carleton University's Industrial Design program, I've worked across branding, graphic design, web design, product development, and residential carpentry. Even as my day-to-day shifted from design into construction, I never lost my passion for design. Instead, the two disciplines have continually complemented one another. Industrial design taught me how to think critically, solve problems, and design with purpose, while carpentry has given me a practical understanding of materials, construction methods, and the realities of bringing ideas to life.
Today, I enjoy combining both skill sets. Whether I'm developing a brand identity, designing a website, or building a home, I approach every project with the same goal: creating thoughtful, functional solutions that are as practical as they are beautiful. It's an unusual combination, but it's made me both a better designer and a better builder.
